SOFT DATA
American Bob Boyce set out to fill the western food void in China in 1999 after craving a good salad or real burger, and so began the Blue Horizon chain with its first ‘KABB’ – still thriving in Central Shanghai today. With a focus on good service (a rarity in China) and quality products at reasonable prices in a comfortable atmosphere, Blue Horizon has maintained their competitive advantage. KABB Bistro Bar is located in the chic Xintiandi development, popular amongst executives, upmarket Chinese and tourists and offer generous portions of modern Western bistro-style foods at moderate prices, made from scratch on site.
In 2012 AmRest bought a 51% stake in Blue Horizon Hospitality Group for $20 million, leading to their expansion throughout China. Blue Frog have opened 41 restaurants by now.
Blue Frog is famous for their burger nights, and casual atmosphere with reliable Western food and drink. Kid friendly with welcoming ambiance and hearty Western/North American cuisine and an extensive drinks list. Blue Frog managed to nab a spot at the Shanghai Disney Resort, a significant recognition of quality and customer service.
Last winter Blue Frog brought out a special “All About Beef” winter menu incorporating Western and Chinese style dishes. They regularly launch seasonal menus featuring eight or so dishes with fresh ingredients that constantly replace less popular items from the regular menu.
Blue Frog started with authentic American fare, and have been incorporating more East meets West items in the last year, such as their Sichuan inspired Mapo Tofu Burger.
