SOFT DATA
This ‘Happy Spanish Restaurant’ is the Spanish creation of Chef Willy Trullas Moreno specialising in modern tapas and Barcelona-style rice dishes. After the original French concession location in
Shanghai, El Willy moved to the more famous Bund location in a historical 1906 building. El Willy’s is product focused, and uses top ingredients adapted to each season to create award winning Spanish inspired menus. Willy is also the brains behind Elefante, Tomatito and a series of other off shoots of the original El Willy in various formats. Since Willy’s arrival in Shanghai in 2007 he has created a range of fun F&B projects under the El
Willy “Fun F&B Group” umbrella. Since the flagship “el Willy, Happy Spanish Restaurant” the group has opened ‘el Cóctel’ – a funky Japanese cocktail bar, ‘Bikini’ the tiny Spanish sandwich and antipasto bar, and ‘Elefante’ Mediterranean restaurant; followed by ‘Tomatito’ tapas, ‘el Ocho’ cocktail and ‘el Patio’ restaurant with many more in the pipeline.
El Willy is creative, colourful and full of surprises; using petals to decorate the tuna, serving Shrimps in a can and Tiramisu in a flower pot. The interest of the dishes is reinforced by everything from the colourful decor and cheeky child-like menus (pictured) to the interactive website with fun pictures and sound effects.
