Marriott International Inc. was founded in Washington D.C., U.S. in 1927 by Mr. J. Willard Marriott. 85 years later the group manages and franchises 3,800 properties in over 74 countries and the group now manages and franchises 7,793 properties around the globe. Marriott China has been doing business on the Mainland since 1998 and has become one of the more respected and used hotels with high average occupancy and a name for truly world-class F&B outlets. Even though they are not the largest group, they are quality driven and suit NZ products well. In June 2016, Marriott International joined together with Starwood Hotels & Resorts, creating the world’s largest hotel company.
